OUTDOOR FAUCET WINTERIZATION
Our outdoor faucet winterization process involves turning off the water supply to your outdoor faucets, draining the water out of the pipes, and installing an insulated cover over the faucet to prevent cold air from entering.
First, we’ll shut off the valve that supplies water to your outdoor faucets. Then, we’ll open the faucet to allow any remaining water to drain out. This ensures that there is no water left in the pipes that could freeze and cause damage.
Next, we’ll install an insulated cover over the faucet to keep it protected from the cold weather. This cover will help prevent the faucet from freezing and keep it in good working order for the next season.
How Can You Winterize Your Own Faucet?
Outdoor Faucet Winterizing Instructions
To protect your outdoor faucet and indoor plumbing system, please follow the following steps every autumn before the cold temperatures begin:
1) Shut the interior ball valve, so that the handle is perpendicular to the pipe.
2) Remove any attached hoses and ensure that the faucet is open.
3) With the valve still open outside go back inside and remove the drain port located just downstream of the handle for the valve to bleed off any residual water in the pipe. Have a cup or a cloth in hand as these ports can drip.
4) Reinstate the drain port cap.
Congratulations, your exterior faucet is now winterized.
By following these steps, you can ensure that your outdoor faucet is protected from freezing temperatures and ready to use again when the weather warms up.

We had a tap replaced outside in the backyard by Bill from John the Plumber. He was polite, professional and very knowledgeable. He arrived on time and completed the job quickly. I would recommend this business without hesitation.
We had a leak in our outdoor faucet. Lance arrived on time, analyzed the situation and fixed the problem. Lance was very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. We were very satisfied with his service. I would definitely use this company again.
Immediate phone response, and the tech who came to install our new hot water tank & outdoor tap was fantastic. He ended up needing to do the install mostly on his own, taking more time than he expected, and had a fantastic attitude and was very engaged the whole time. Walked me through the tests he’d done & how to service the tank going forward, explained everything knowledgeably and clearly, and tidily cleaned everything up after. Asked lots of good questions and broke down the estimate on a way that was transparent and easy to follow. Really quick and fantastic service, very grateful.
