Although there are many products available that will help un-block your drains, you will be surprised to know that you may even have a few common household ingredients that can do an even better job. So, before you go out and buy products, try these methods and if everything else fails, John the Plumber drain cleaning specialist in Kingston will be there to help.
Salt and baking soda method
Mix equal parts baking soda and salt, and pour the mixture down your blocked drain. Let it sit for at least 20 minutes and then pour boiling water into the drain. The baking soda, salt and boiling water will react together to dissolve what is blocking the drain.
Baking soda and vinegar method
This one works wonder for showers. Mix equal proportions of baking soda and vinegar together. They will start reacting immediately so you might want to mix them near the area you will treat. Pour the mixture into the drain as soon as it starts reacting and put the stopper of the sink or tub on and let it sit for at least an hour. The secret of this method is pressure: fill in the tub with water and then take the stopper off. The pressure of all this water going through will take the debris blocking your drain with it.
Wet/dry vacuum method
If you have in your house a wet and dry shop vacuum you could try it on your blocked drain! Make sure to cover the vent well to avoid making a mess and create a tight seal around the drain. Put the vacuum at its maximum capacity and it might just bring the clog up the drain and into the bag!
