Here at John the Plumber Peterborough, we have our customers best interest at heart. You never know when you are going to experience a plumbing problem and having some simple tools at home can help alleviate stress and sometimes avoid having to call it costly emergency plumber in Peterborough altogether. So, what tools should every homeowner in Peterborough own? Read on to see our list!
A plunger is our first recommendation
By far probably the cheapest and most useful plumbing tool that you can have in your home. We do recommend that if you have a toilet in your home you should have a plunger for it. Be warned; there are different plungers for sinks and toilets and it is absolutely not recommended to use your toilet plunger in your kitchen sink for obvious hygienic reasons. No need to spend a lot of money; a simple, inexpensive plunger will usually do the job in most cases. (If, not, we have a blog about how to unblock a toilet if there is no plunger in site!)
A flashlight is also imperative
Not just for plumbing, but for pretty much any time you may need one. We’ve all experienced power outages in our homes in Peterborough at one point or another, and a flashlight in a place where every member in your household knows its whereabouts is a fantastic idea. Quite often, you will need this flashlight to pinpoint exactly where a leak is coming from and it is very useful for those dark places under the sink or behind the hot water tank.
Duct Tape
We know, nothing sounds more Canadian than duct tape but it is definitely something useful to have in your home. This is not just because we love the Red Green Show; duct tape is somewhat water resistance and it is very strong and generally can fix the leak on a pipe in a pinch until you can get it repaired correctly by a plumber. Duct tape also has about 10,000 as we all know.
A good quality wrench from a local tool store in Peterborough should also be a part of your tool kit. It is very handy and they come in all sorts of different sizes and styles. It is a good idea to have at least a small one and a large one that is adjustable in size. Even attaching a simple shower head will usually require a wrench of some sort.
