Does Your Faucet Run Slowly? It can be a frustrating thing to deal with. You’re trying to fill your kitchen sink, and you have time to read the newspaper while it’s filling. Not acceptable if you ask our Kingston plumbers. It used to fill your sink right up, but these days it’s just getting slower and slower.
So what can you do about it? Our Kingston plumbers say that the first thing you should be checking is the aerator on your faucet. The aerator is the little part at the end of the faucet spout that has a screen inside of it. Over time little particles can clog and block up that screen. The good news, is that it is really easy to address this issue.
Most of the time, an aerator can be removed by hand.
Often times, an aerator can be cleaned, and replacement isn’t neccessary. That being said, you can buy a new aerator at any local hardware store, or plumbing supplier for only a few dollars.
One way to clean an aerator, is to turn the piece over, and run water through it in reverse to try and free up and of the debris that has been getting caught up in the screen. The screen gets all filled up with tiny little particles that build up over time. Most of the time you can just wash water through them in reverse and your problem is solved.
If that doesn’t work, then head down to your local hardware store and pick up a new aerator. These can be installed in about 30 seconds. Just twist off the old one, and twist on the new one. You should find yourself with nice water flow and water pressure.
If this didn’t fix the issue, give us a call today and we can try and figure out what else could be causing your slow running fixture. Our licensed Kingston plumbing experts will find you a solution.
