How to Keep Your Pipes from Freezing
At least that’s the consensus from our Kingston plumbers.
Frozen pipes can cost you thousands in damage, if you don’t take precautions against your pipes freezing. So how to keep your pipes from freezing is the big question.
If the weather forecast looks like it’s going to be really cold, it might not be a bad idea to leave a faucet slightly dripping. Moving water takes longer to freeze up than water that is standing still.
Another idea would be to have a contractor come over and take a look at how well your home is insulated.
You don’t actually need to have your whole house re-insulated if you’re having frozen pipe issues, but you can re-insulate any area’s where you have piping near an outside wall, or cold spot.
Frozen pipes is a problem that plumbers can temporarily resolve for you, but if no plan is made to rectify the reason it froze in the first place, then chances are you will be paying to thaw it out again……and nobody wants to do that.
