My Taps Make Noise!! What’s Going On?

Nepean Plumbers Tell You What Might Be Wrong

Faucets are usually quiet, even when they’re turned on to full blast. However, if your faucet starts to make any kind of noise while being partially turned on, there’s a problem. You need to deal with the problem if you want to keep your plumbing matters healthy. Some of these noises are the indications of a bigger problem. At John The Plumber, we suggest that you consider the following problems.

The Age of the Faucet

Most faucets would last for a very long time. However, there comes a time when you’ll have to replace them. If your faucet is giving you problems like leakages or noise, you might want to consider getting it replaced. This is especially true if it is more than a decade old. In most cases, the noise will go away if the old faucet is replaced.  If you need you faucet replaced by a plumber click the link.

Washers

Rubber washers can become worn and inefficient over time. If they’re not working well, the faucet would start making a screeching noise whenever it is open. The only way to address this solution is to replace the washer. The washers are usually present to control the flow of water. If they’re worn down, they can’t do that and this will lead to noise, say our Nepean plumbers.

Water Pressure

You might want to check the water pressure to ensure that it’s not the cause of the noise. You can check the water pressure regulating valve to ensure that there are no problems. The pressure should be about 50 to 90 PSI. If the pressure is more than that, the pipes will rattle and the faucet will emit a noise.

Air in the Pipes

Air in the pipes can also be a cause of the noise. Even if the faucet is only partially open, the air in the pipes would cause some amount of noise. You can stop this by opening the faucet completely after shutting down the supply valve. You should let the water drain out completely and let the air pass. After that, open the valve once again. This would most likely address the problem.
