The old fill valve in this Carleton Place bathroom had seen better days. You can see it clearly in the before photo, a worn white ballcock-style valve sitting crooked in the tank, no longer sealing properly. The toilet had been running constantly, cycling water without stopping. That steady trickle adds up fast on a water bill, and it never really lets you forget it's there.
We pulled out the old valve and replaced it with a new fill valve and flapper assembly. The after photo shows the fresh components sitting clean and upright in the tank, the red cap of the new fill valve a clear sign that something solid is now in its place. Everything seated properly, water levels set correctly, and the phantom flushing stopped.
These repairs are worth doing sooner rather than later. A running toilet can waste a surprising amount of water every single day without anyone noticing until the bill arrives. The fix itself is straightforward when you catch it in time.
If your toilet is doing the same thing, or something else has you puzzled under the lid, we're easy to reach. Give John The Plumber a call at 613-227-7465 and we'll sort it out.
