Some jobs can get a little messy, no matter how careful you are.
Here at John the Plumber Mississauga we are not afraid to get our hands a little dirty. Or a lot dirty! This job definitely got a little messier than expected.
Jonathan and Eric were scheduled to do bathtub drain installation and re piping for a customer in the Mississauga area who had just had a new liner installed over her old bathtub. The good guys at John the Plumber Mississauga are drain experts, and this job was a piece of cake. Until the drain let go and covered them with…well you know what goes down there!
Replacing the drain was easy! First they removed the old galvanized tub drain and replaced it with a new one. The pipes in this old house were pretty rough and they both felt it was best to replace the drain line with ABS.
Unfortunately, this old cast iron pipe was FULL of gunk. And the poor guys were covered head to toe by the time they left! The ended up re piping from the P trap all the way to the kitchen; essentially as far as they could go. This ensures that the line will stay clean and run smoothly for years to come. Old cast iron pipes are notorious for crumbling, blocking and are just generally poor as they are all old.
An MJ fitting was used here – for those who don’t know, an MJ, or mechanical joint, is a rubber coupling with a mechanical joint to connect the ABS to the cast Iron. A Fernco fitting was used to connect to the P trap. A Wye was then added to reconnect and properly vent. As well, a clean out was also installed – this will help enormously if there are any issues in the future.
All in all, a messy day. These boys were glad to get into some new uniforms and onto the next job. John the Plumber Mississauga is here for all your plumbing needs, even if they get a little messy.
