Basement Sump Pump Replacement Services
How to know when it’s time to replace that basement pump. First, that humming sound coming from your basement when it rains is your sump pump. That’s the sound of your sump pump working its tail off to keep your basement dry and your home free of water damage and the dangers that can come with it. These are sturdy strong machines, and they have quite a long lifespan as long as you check in on them once in a while. We don’t think much about them but when it comes to keeping you flood free, this machine is THE solution!
Of course, all things see its day no matter how strongly they were built, and sump pumps are no different. We want you to remain ahead of any flooding issues so Our Company decided to share on a few pointers that should indicate to you that you may need to replace your basement pump.
Time To Replace Your Basement Pump:
Time Has Come
We figured we’d start with the obvious: time. If you know it’s getting close to ten years since you acquired your sump pump and it’s not operating as it once did, it’s most likely done due to wear and tear and it’s time to replace that basement pump with a new one.
Lack Of Cycling
When the rain is pouring down, your sump pump goes to work right away and in a cyclical fashion. When you note that its’ not cycling properly and it’s working randomly it may be time to get a new one. It could also be a clog but do check it out; long as it is like this, water is able to flood your basement!
It Runs Constantly
This is sort of like the cycles above, but running all the time. Your pump should only be running when there is water to remove. If you notice it’s humming away yet there is no water in its basin to be removed, it may well be time to replace the old basement pump.
We want to be clear, you are supposed to hear a humming noise when your sump pump is doing its thing. However if it’s not a hum and more like a banging or clattering type of noises, something is breaking down in your sump pump, that is not normal.
Pay Attention To That Basement Pump
Of course we understand this is probably the last thing you want to spend your hard earned money on. It’s just a silly machine in the basement right? Thing is that “silly machine” is there to save you tons of money, loss of personal items, flood damage, health risks and more. Water damage can come on very quickly and is hard to stop once it has started; a flood could be quite underway in your basement if you aren’t paying attention.
