Hot Water Heater Services from John THE Plumber
Hot water is something we all need yet never think about – until we can’t obtain any. This necessity isn’t something a household is capable of being without for very long at all. Beyond the comfort of hot showers, hot water clears up many a hygiene issue – it is needed. Thing is, a homeowner needs to keep an eye and manage the situation. Hot water heaters pull quite an amount of power and if one isn’t careful your monthly bill could be quite a surprise – and not a good one! Our Company offers all kinds of hot water heater services and is always happy to share our knowledge. We have decided to provide some tips on how to save money where your water bill is concerned.
- When brushing your teeth, only turn the water on when you need to rinse; the ongoing running water can add up to a lot – always good to monitor kids while doing this, water could run a long time!
- If you have a large family, energy efficient appliances are the smart purchase – they save tons!
- Don’t ignore tiny drips and leaks; they add up to a lot and the problem will only grow bigger!
- Buy soap designed for cold water washing and use only cold water –same results and less expensive!
You would be amazed at the literal tanks of hot water you will save by employing these simple steps!
Insulating your pipes is something else you can do and it really will prove to save you a bunch of money. This is something we know you can do yourself. Heat escapes from your pipes and we’ve coached many a homeowner to do this on their own. The tubing itself is quite cheap and cuts easily. All you have to do is cut it to size and then wrap a piece of the insulation around each exposed pipe that you see. It’s as though you are wrapping a warm scarf around each pipe and presto! You are saving money! Other thing to note is this insulation is not hard to find; go to any hardware or home renovation store – they all carry it.
MYTH: “Insulating your hot water heater is a good idea.”
An insulating blanket for this very purpose does exist, but in our opinion this is a cash grab and will cost you more in the long run. Heat coms off of that heater; if you wrap it up you are keeping the heat in the tank and now turning up the heat in your house. Not only have you just spent money on a blanket that is unnecessary but it will jack up your heating bill. The only time this is seen as necessary is if your hot water heater happens to be in a spot where there is no heat getting to it – but this isn’t often and you really should check with a professional before taking that extra step
